Art has always been central to my life, and continues to be foundational to how I encounter the world. For the past two decades making art has been an act of self love and has been deeply informed by my work as a Gestalt Therapist, during which I have had the privilege of witnessing and listening to many stories held within the body.
In 2012, I began reflecting on my practice of supporting women who had experienced acts of violence. Many of those women struggled to find a sense of peace and acceptance within their bodies and were struggling with eating issues and other forms of self harm. My work called me to return to my own body, to recall my sense of the body as a refuge, through practices of meditation and yoga, and as a place of creation through practices of observation and experimentation. The practice of painting and drawing the body enabled me to encounter the body in new ways. I came to see the body not only as a site of resistance and survival but as an enduring landscape pregnant with possibilities and imagination. This marked a pivotal time of renewal and recognition of the body as both subject and a powerful site of pleasure, power and unlimited meaning-making.
In 2016 after undertaking a number of short courses and attending regular Life Drawing classes, I was inspired to commence a Bachelor of Visual Arts, majoring in Painting, at the Queensland College of Art. Despite having successfully completed a Masters of Gestalt Therapy some years earlier, I decided to take my time completing the degree, while working part time, so I could really enjoy the learning. My experience of secondary school had been both physical and emotionally traumatic, to such an extent that I never got to finish my high school education. Since graduating from my degree in 2023, I have moved house and literally dismantled my studio. I have taken some time to travel, and to honour my other loves and my commitment to building an InterPlay community on the Sunshine Coast. After a much needed creative break I am excited and ready to start visioning again and this site is the birthplace of something new! I have begun by sharing some of my early work and in time plan to offer a wider range of work including new work and work completed during my time at QCA.
New Body of Work underway in 2026!
As an artist I am interested in the stories that shape us, and in how new narratives can emerge through novel encounters and improvisational play. InterPlay is an active and creative approach to accessing the wisdom of the body through improvised movement, story, and sound. InterPlay cultivates connections where people are invited to take risks, to soften inhibitions, and to explore creative freedom, building trust in their embodied knowing. Through InterPlay, I have discovered parts of myself I didn’t know existed, and this has led me to make InterPlay more central in my life. In January 2026 I began a new series of works that explore the InterPlay forms and body wisdom practices, a celebration of the ways these continue to nourish my life.
